Student Review: "This Promise of Change," by Jo Ann Allen Boyce and Debbie Levy

This book takes place in a time when colored students were trying to integrate into whites only schools. This is the story about 1 of the 12 students willing to go to this school with students and teachers that did not want them there. The 12 were hurt, called names, shoved against lockers and windows, had there heels stepped on, and had spitballs and paper with mean messages thrown at them. Jo Ann Allen Boyce stood up for the civil rights movement with the others and faced the terror of going to school. This story was inspiring and and fun to read because of the way it was written.
