The Outsiders is a great book written in first person by the main character, Ponyboy Curtis. He is a pretty good kid and lives with his two older brothers, Sodapop and Darryl (but everyone calls him Darry). Their parents died in a car accident, so the only family the have left is each other and the gang, Johnny Cade, Dallas "Dally" Winston, Steve Randle, and Keith "Two-Bit" Matthews. They all live on the east side of town and are called "greasers". The greasers enemies are the west side Socials, mostly called Socs (pronounced SOSH-es). Everything was somewhat fine until the Socs jumped Johnny Cade. That was the beginning of a terrible two weeks. This story has greasers, Socs, deaths, fights, rumbles, close friendships, and adventure. This is easily the best book I have ever read. I'm glad it was a book we had to read for class or I would've never read it. 5/5 stars.
