Student Review: "The Journey of the Pale Bear," by Susan Fletcher

Arthur is caught stealing food and ends up in a polar bears cage as payback. The polar bear will not harm Arthur, but will harm anyone else who tries to get near. The polar bear is a gift from the king of Norway to the king of England. A kind doctor hires Arthur to look after the bear on the long sea voyage to England. Arthur finds he has a strong connection to this bear, his only family. The rest of his family has cut him off. Arthur ends up working at the king of England's palace, caring for the bear. I liked this book.
