The book starts out with the Butler coming to Carter's house on the first day of school. Carters mom is trying to get everyone ready by herself because his dad is deployed. The Butler was sent by their late, unknown grandfather. Butler becomes a father figure to Carter and helps his mom feel less frantic and more organized. Butler also has a love for cricket and eventually makes a school cricket team.I think that this book is a very interesting book.

A butler shows up on the front porch of the Jones house while they are having a first-day-of-school crisis. He drives them them to school, and Carter and his family realize he is there to stay. After loosing his 6 year old brother, Currier, Cater and his 3 younger sisters learn from the butler and their mom that their father, who is currently deployed in Afghanistan, sent an email saying he found someone in Germany he wants to settle down with and has no intention of coming home and being their father again. During such, the butler has taught Carter how to play cricket, and ends up making a cricket team at Carter's middle school. There is an epic cricket match, and Carter's team wins. I liked this book.
