Professor Lidenbrock discovers an old parchment saying that a famous explorer traveled to the center of the Earth and back. So he and his nephew Axel go to Iceland and descend into a in-active volcano with an Icelandic hunter named Hans that Professor Lidenbrock hired to accompany them on the trip. They travel and come to a crossroads. They take one path and come to a dead end. Then they go back to the crossroads and take the other path. They come across a very large cavern with an ocean in it. Hans, Professor Lidenbrock, and Axel build a raft and sail for weeks across the sea. They reach the opposite shore and eventually get shot out of a volcano on an island thousands of miles away from where they started. Axel and his uncle get back home and tell everyone about there adventure. I liked the plot line, but the book was very dull and quite boring.
