Pierre (Professor) Aronnax and his faithful companion Conseil join on a sea expedition to find a mysterious sea monster that has been destroying all of the ships it comes to. Monsieur Aronnax is sure it is a Narwhal, but his friend, Ned Land, refuses to believe it exists. When they find the creature and it damages there boat, Professor Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned are thrown into the water and land on the surface of the creature which is actually a submarine. Captain Nemo takes them prisoner but soon releases them to roam the Nautilus, the name of his ship. They spend nine months on the Nautilus, seeing the ancient city of Atlantis, getting stuck in an ice burg, and getting attacked by a giant squid. The three finally escape after getting sucked down a whirl-pool. This book was interesting, but not my favorite.
