It’s the summer before 8th grade and Annabelle is not doing great. She’s really struggling to keep up at the private school she attends, and she’s worried she’ll lose her financial aid. On the other hand, she is a star swimmer. She’s so good, in fact, that she’s been invited to join the high school team! With that happy news, Annabelle almost forgets about school and how her friendship with Mia seems to be changing, and she can focus on what she loves: swimming. With an older boy paying attention to her, she’s on cloud nine. But with that attention comes some tough life choices that Annabelle thinks she’s ready for, but others definitely do not. Will she fall flat or find happiness? I really thought Annabelle was so true to her age, wanting to fit in with the older kids, having her first crush, longing for her long-lost father, and trying to do everything herself.
