Tracy is doing whatever she can to try to save her dad from the death penalty. She knows he didn't murder two people seven years ago, but he was convicted and she's trying to get help to save him before it's too late. In the meantime, her brother Jamal is accused of murder and it just feels like history repeating itself. Jamal goes on the run because he knows how the police work in his town. Tracy is now investigating what really happened so she can save her brother, but it's not easy in a town full of hidden KKK members and hatred toward Black people. In what I thought would be a look at racial inequality in America that turned into a solid murder mystery, this was a book that has it all.
