Sisters

Roo and Tilly are best friends and sisters. Roo is the older, wiser, responsible sister while Tilly is often more impulsive and impatient. In fact, it's her impatience with Roo being late to pick her up that causes her to text Roo nonstop. Roo texts back that she's five minutes away but never arrives. That's because that text causes her to be distracted while driving, and she swerves off the road, flipping her vehicle. But she survives the accident and is conscious and talking, until she suffers a massive stroke. Now she's a victim of locked-in syndrome, which mimics a coma but Roo actually can hear and comprehend everything going on around her even though her body is paralyzed. It isn't until Tilly figures it out that Roo is able to communicate again, with the help of a fancy computer. This book does come off a bit preachy about the horrors of texting and driving, which is good for people to hear, but the sisters' relationship is at the center of it all and really does give the book its heart.
