Review: "The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl," by Stacy McAnulty

When Lucy was only 8 years old, she was struck by lightning. The surprising side effect is that now she's a math savant -- a genius! She lives with her grandmother, and school became a battleground full of bullies, so Lucy's been homeschooled. Now it's time for her to start 7th grade and her grandmother makes a deal with her - attend public school for one year and then she can head on to college or a specialized high school. She's smart enough to skip ahead, but her social skills are lacking. Lucy reluctantly agrees and even makes some new friends! This was a great middle-school read and I recommend it!
