Three years after a school shooting, the survivors are trying to move on with their lives while dealing with PTSD, anxiety, and insecurities about themselves. Lee's best friend Sarah was one of the nine victims of the attack, and she and Lee were holding hands and trembling while in a bathroom stall that day. They tried to hide from the shooter, but he got to them anyway. A story began circulating about Sarah shortly after the shooting, that she had stood up for her religion when the shooter asked her about it, and that was the reason she was shot. She's the "girl with the cross necklace." But Lee knows that story isn't true and that she and Sarah didn't speak to the shooter that day. IS it too late to reveal the truth? What will happen to Lee if she finally speaks up? I liked this story and thought it was a pretty good representation of what might happen to the lives of kids who survive school shootings and how they deal with it.
