I listened to this audiobook and it is lengthy. I might have done better reading this one instead. The premise is gruesome - Ella's ugly stepsister, Isabelle, is coerced by her mother to cut off her toes to fit her foot into the little glass slipper when the Prince comes calling. Her extreme measures come at a cost when her lies are discovered and her mom and sister are shamed by the community. But this is only the beginning of the story. Isabelle wants to change her fate and has to learn that being ugly doesn't equate to being evil or unnecessary. She is actually a powerful female unfair aid to admit her mistakes and stop others from harming the people she loves. Overall, I enjoyed this dark fairy tale.
