Rick Dial was in a terrible accident that cost him his ability to walk without crutches. He'd been the star quarterback for his high school football team, and without athletics, he fell into a depression. To top it off, his father had abandoned their family for an old girlfriend, and that made Rick spiral into a pretty dark place. He spent all his time at home playing video games and hiding from the world, even his own mother and brother. However, with Rick's top scores in almost all the video games he played, he was approached by a super secret group called MindWar and they told him that they needed him to save the world. Cliche, I know, but Rick was intrigued. He was told that he needed to enter a place that was created entirely in the mind of an evil genius and take out the fortress that holds the key to the Realm. Without stopping this evil man, millions will be murdered and the world as we know it will no longer exist. Rick accepts the challenge, and he soon learns that in the Realm his legs are no longer messed up from the accident and he has strength in his willpower. But what secrets are the MindWar people not telling Rick that might cost him his life? This is book one of a trilogy but can be read on its own.
