When a giant swastika is painted in their quiet Colorado middle school, there are no immediate suspects. In fact, the administration is so offended by the symbol that they immediately start sensitivity curriculum with the students so they can learn all about the Holocaust and what that symbol represents. But the symbol continues to appear, many times, so the students start a project to bring a visual reminder of the six million Jewish people who were murdered in the Holocaust. They start a paper chain. When their story gets international attention, people from all over the world contribute to the chain. I loved this story and its cast of characters and the message the author was trying to convey but I personally wasn't loving the reveal of who painted the giant swastika to kick everything off... No spoilers!
