In this sequel to Dear Martin, we follow Quan right after he is arrested for the shooting death of an officer. Through a series of letters that Quan writes to Justyce, we find out that Quan isn't guilty for the crime he's been arrested for and that it was a gang he's part of - the gang that runs Justyce's old neighborhood - that might be responsible. Justyce is an aspiring law student and gets involved in Quan's case, trying to pay it forward for the boys in his neighborhood who haven't been able to get out.
