Coraline Jones is lonely in her new apartment. Things aren't quite what they seem. Coraline sets out to explore and uncovers a secret door that leads to the apartment next door. When she goes through the door, she finds copies of all the people in the apartments nearby and of her mother and father. The difference is that all the "other" people have buttons for eyes! Other than that, it seems perfect over there! Her other mother cooks Coraline's favorite foods, she gets to watch really talented rats perform tricks, and the garden is gorgeous. Coraline is loving it, but when she returns to her own house, her parents are nowhere to be found. She comes to realize that her other mother has taken them and hidden them from her. She and Coraline make a deal that if Coraline can find her parents as well as the spirits of three young people who came before her, then she will let Coraline go. This creepy story is a fantastic audiobook read by the author. Highly recommended!
