I really loved The Crossover by Kwame Alexander that I read years ago. I finally picked this up today and was surprised it wasn’t a continuation of The Crossover story. I don’t know where I got the idea this was a sequel, but it’s not! And it’s just as good! This time, the main character loves soccer and instead of facing a parental health issue, he’s facing parents on the verge of divorce. His dad forced him to read a dictionary of weird words, and it’s fantastic for word nerds like me to see cool vocabulary throughout. His mom is a horse trainer who moves to Kentucky and he feels abandoned. Love the librarian character who is super cool. Love that this is written in verse!
