Elise has decided that silence is the only way she can make it through the day. She keeps tallies of how many words she says each day and tries to keep it to the lowest number possible. Elise's selective mutism came about when she was made fun of for answering wrong in class, so she chooses to say as little as she can. When Elise uncovers a shocking family secret, she flees home looking for answers, but not knowing how to ask for help.
