Ivy Aberdeen's

Ivy Aberdeen has a lot going on. Her mother seems to have disappeared from Ivy’s life after she gave birth to twin boys. Her older sister, Layla, doesn’t seem like someone Ivy can talk to anymore. She loses her home and everything in it to a tornado disaster. And now she’s questioning her own feelings as she has romantic thoughts about girls. Who can she trust with her secrets? This nominee for the Intermediate Sequoyah award explores many of the uncertainties that girls face as they get older. Ivy is an authentic character even if her family dynamic seems overwhelming to her. Her friendships with Taryn and June are well-written too.
