Flight of Swans

A nominee for the 2020 Intermediate Sequoyah Award, this book tells the tale of Princess Andaryn who, in the act of trying to save her father from a spell put on him by his new wife, ends up getting her six brothers turned into black swans. The queen tells her she can save her brothers if she swears to complete silence for 6 years. Ryn agrees. She exiles herself to hide away from the evil queen and do what she can to save her brothers. They change back to men on the night of each full moon. Meanwhile, Ryn discovers that weaving stinging nettles into cloaks, she may be able to save her brothers and herself from the magic upon them. This is a great story based on the Grimm brothers fairy tale, "The Six Swans" and I loved the fierce heroine at the forefront of the adventure.
