Review: "Ashes to Asheville," by Sarah Dooley

When Ophelia AKA Fella's Mama Lacy passed away from pancreatic cancer six months earlier, she was taken from the only family she'd known - her other mom, Shannon, and her sister, Zoey Grace AKA Zany. Fella's been living with her grandmother, Mrs. Madison, cut off from her family because her mothers were never legally married, so Mama Shannon doesn't have legal rights to custody. Zany comes in the night to steal Fella away for a road trip from West Virginia to Asheville in order to spread Mama Lacy's ashes. But the road trip hits all sorts of bumps, including having the ashes stolen, a car overheating, a flat tire, and more. The girls make their way slowly toward Asheville, but Fella has second thoughts about spreading Mama Lacy's ashes and never having her around any more.
