Short, lyrical tale of a private investigator who has a unique talent for finding missing children. Not all of her cases are successful in finding the child alive, but Naomi is almost always successful in finding the child. She herself was taken as a child and her past is a mystery even to herself. There are bits and pieces that come to her while she dreams, but mostly her history is unknown. When Madison's parents hire Naomi to find their daughter who has been missing for three years, it brings Naomi back to where she was found as a child, in Oregon. Madison went missing while in the mountains looking for a Christmas tree with her family, and it's up to Naomi to find her, alive or dead. I liked this story quite a bit, even though there were parts that broke my heart. I'm anxious to see if there will be a sequel that delves more into Naomi's past since she had a significant breakthrough that could lead to discovering more about herself.
Mrs. Denney's Rating: ***1/2
