Saints and Misfits

How do you reconcile your Muslim culture with also being a typical teenage girl growing up in America? Janna does a pretty great job balancing the two. But when her friend's "perfect" Muslim cousin corners her and attempts to assault her, Janna clams up. Fear takes over because she doesn't know how to confront someone who is revered in the Muslim community. Who knows what might have happened if her friend's mom hadn't knocked on that door and interrupted him. Janna is torn between her feelings for a non-Muslim boy and how to tell her friends what happened to her. She's a smart protagonist with a lot of strong qualities that many girls will identify with.
