Book 2 in the series begins one year after Scythe ends. Rowan is now known as Scythe Lucifer and he's made it his mission to permanently end the lives of scythes who live on the dark side of morality. Citra is now a junior scythe, known as Scythe Anastasia, and she and her mentor, Scythe Curie, are being targeted by an unknown group of assassins. Also interjected into the story is a new character named Greyson Tolliver who is assigned to a secret mission by the Thunderhead to protect Anastasia and Curie from the group targeting them. The Thunderhead itself also plays a crucial role in the story, with musings from it breaking up the chapters. What can the Thunderhead "think" of humans and their endless quest for power? And power plays abound in this story - including some unsavory plots to take over the scythedom as the world knows it!
