Student Review: "Halo: The Flood," by William C. Dietz

The Flood is a book about Halo CE (a video game). It's about a super soldier (Spartan) escapes a ship from aliens. He lands in a ring-shaped world built by ancients. He's trying to find his team, when a strange life form appears, The Flood. They latch on to sentient life and take over their bodies. An AI helps him defeat the Flood, but the Spartan figures out it was a trick. The AI was leading him to set off an explosive, blowing up half the universe. He must venture to his fallen ship to blow up the reactor, in order to blow the ring.
