Review: "The One and Only Ivan," by Katherine Applegate

I'm so thankful to have a kid in my life with whom I can enjoy children's literature like this. Beautiful story of the one and only Ivan, a gorilla who has spent 95% of his life in a mall animal exhibit. His domain has a few other animals around too. When Mac, the owner, brings in Ruby, a baby elephant, Ivan makes a promise that he will find a way to save Ruby from the life he has lived. Told in prose.
