Gracie is known for being the sunshine in everyone's lives. She's 100% nice. For someone about to turn 14, that's quite a feat to pull off! Her sister was killed in a hit and run three years before Gracie was born, but she feels like she's lived in her ghost sister's shadow her whole life. She doesn't want to do anything to upset her parents because they've had it hard enough. She doesn't want to get on anyone's bad side at school because having friends is a must in middle school. So, she is pulling it off. Until she gets pulled into a "who does he like?" scenario that involves a boy she has a crush on but who ultimately likes her best friend, Sienna. As a parent, I ached for what Gracie's parents had been through, and as a former middle school girl and current middle school librarian, I totally understood where Gracie was coming from. Oh the joys (?!) of middle school!
