“Miss Peregrine’s House for Peculiar Children” is a story about a boy named Jacob. Jacob’s grandfather used to show him pictures and tell him stories about children who possessed strange abilities. According to him, all these kids lived in a house where Jacob’s grandfather went to hide from monsters called hollowgast. One day, Jacob’s grandfather died in mysterious circumstances. Jacob finds a two years old card from a woman named Miss. Peregrine to his grandfather. He decides to visit Miss Peregrine’s house to find out if she is still alive. He finds the house, and finds many peculiar children living in her house. He also discovers his own special kind of peculiarity and that is his ability to see wights, another type of monsters who look like humans and only Jacob can actually spot them. As hollowgast and wights try to harm Miss Peregrine and peculiar children in her house, Jacob uses his ability and the photographs left by his grandfather as clues to save her. The peculiar children also help him, and together they save the day. The book is easy to read and understand, but it has a complex plot. It has a lot of events, and I recommend writing down as many important events as possible. I liked this book a lot. I recommend it for readers who like horror, mystery, fantasy, and adventure.
