Review: "The Colossus Rises," by Peter Lerangis

This is a great series to get kids hooked who loved the Percy Jackson books. Focusing on the seven wonders of the ancient world, this series begins with a boy who is kidnapped and taken to a remote island where he is told that he is "special" and has a unique ability that only a few people have. He and his fellow "specials" are told that their unique ability has a time limit though. When they turn 14, their special ability will literally be the death of them. In order to stop their untimely deaths, they must gather objects from around the world before their 14th birthdays.

I'm doing a horrible job selling this concept, but I really did like it! There is humor, drama, action, and the audio's narrator sounded like Bruce Campbell, so you can't go wrong.
