Fifth grader Tamaya has to walk home with seventh-grader Marshall. It's her mom's rule: Don't walk home alone. So, Tamaya and Marshall always walk home together from their private school in Pennsylvania. On this particular day, Marshall starts walking towards the woods instead. Tamara never breaks the rules, so she tags along, knowing she's not allowed to walk home alone. It turns out Marshall is walking through the woods to hide from the bully, Chad, but he finds them in the woods anyway. To protect herself and Marshall, Tamaya picks up a handful of some "fuzzy mud" from the ground and wipes it in Chad's face. But that "fuzzy mud" isn't mud at all. It's a substance engineered in a lab that has escaped into the real world and will cause MAJOR problems.

I really liked this book. It was a quick listen (only 3.5 hours on audio) and it had some cool science mixed in.

Mrs. Denney's Rating: ***1/2
